Design and make your own sandals in our Marikina studio

    In this workshop, you would learn:

    • Technical basics of a sandal
    • Correct feet measurement
    • Creating a paper pattern from your design
    • Creating your upper from leather
    • Assembling and lasting your sandals
    • Finishing your sandals

    What we'll provide:

    • Insoles, outsoles, upper leather and other materials to create your sandals
    • Handouts
    • Use of tools and machines in the studio
    • Workshop instruction by Ms. Tal de Guzman of Risqué Designs

      • Where: 
        • Risqué Designs Manufacturing studio at 121 Malaya St, Malanday, Marikina
        • You can waze "Risque Designs Manufacturing" on 121 Malaya or pin "Nifty Shoes Manufacturing"
        • Only bike parking is available, please make arrangements to commute or get dropped off
        • Duration: 3 to 4 hours depending on class pace

        IMPORTANT NOTES:

        • We only take maximum of 10 persons per day of workshop, for the safety of our students and our team
        • Please also let us know if you have allergy to dust or adhesives so we can advise you if this workshop is for you, as we will be using a sanding machine and we’ll be making use of shoe adhesives

         

        Tal de Guzman, the instructor for this course, is the social-entrepreneur founder of Risqué Designs (a 12-year old, proudly-Filipino shoe brand and manufacturer) and co-founder of Stride Collective (a marketplace for ethically handmade shoe brands). She has dedicated her professional life to promoting Philippine craftsmanship and has been teaching workshops and classes since 2016 to help increase demand for artisan skills. She was a former teacher at SoFA Design Institute and is currently teaching at the College of Saint Benilde and holding workshops at various studios such as Soulflower and Maartsy.
